Components:
The
main components for your web site are:
-
Internet
Service Provider (ISP)
This is the company that provides your internet access and email service,
and does not necessarily have anything to do with your web site, other than
this is how you get on the internet to look at your web site. Some
ISP's do provide web hosting, domain name registration services and other
related services. The cost of this is currently around $20 a month.
-
Domain
Name Registration (InterNIC)
This is your unique name for your web site. You may register your
domain name yourself directly with InterNIC, or your hosting provider or
site developer may handle the registration for you for a fee. There is
a wealth of information about the registration process, as well as a
glossary of terms on the InterNIC site, which can be found at
"http://internic.net".
Before you can register your domain name, you must check to see if your name
is available. The cost registration through Internic is currently $70
for the first two years, payable when you register your domain name, and
then $35 a year after that. Due to recent de-regulation, there
are now some hosting sites that offer domain registration for less.
-
Web
Hosting Provider
This is the company that rents you a specified amount of space to
"host" your web site. You will receive an Internet Protocol
(IP) number from them, for example: 205.53.6.47. This is your official
internet address for your web site. You will need to register a unique
name for your site which is called your domain name.

a page for basic web design services. For price information go to the
